Point in Time Survey

BCCH Seeks
Volunteers to Help with
Homeless Census

Baltimore County is seeking volunteers to help with its annual Point In Time Study of the county’s homeless population.  The study is an important assessment that helps the county improve services to the homeless and better evaluate the scope of the issue of homelessness.

The Point in Time Study will take place on Thursday, January 29, 2009 from 8 a.m.. to 8 p.m.  Those interested in volunteering will be able to choose an activity that best suits their interest.  Some of the work will be indoors and involves processing interviews and/or conducting interviews with the homeless.  Other activities will involve outreach to the homeless in the field, in outdoor and/or indoor locations such as churches, public libraries, bus stops.

All volunteers will be asked to attend one of four available training sessions.  The sessions will be held at the Drumcastle Center, 6401 York Road, Baltimore MD 21212. The sessions will be held on:

  • Wed, January 21, at 3 p.m.
  • Thursday, January 22, at 2 p.m.
  • Monday, January 26, at 2 p.m.
  • Wednesday, January 28, at 5:30 p.m.

 About BCCH Minimize

BCCH has several subcommittees; Development, Education, and Advocacy. It is through these committees that work is accomplished and progress is made. The Education committee is committed to providing timely and accurate information relating to the state of homelessness in Baltimore County. As part of our mission, the committee provides this page as a resource to the community as well as to the membership of BCCH. The Advocacy committee works to be heard; speaking for those whose voices are not heard, or who cannot speak for themselves. We are working to develop opportunities for community service, and stewardship, to aid in preventing and correcting homelessness in Baltimore County. The Development committee works to organize opportunities for financial support and contributions to continue our activities, and to support our commitments. Working with our education committee to communicate these opportunities, we are developing additional activities such as volunteer opportunities and partnerships with those in the local government, local business, and with the media. Thank you for visiting!
